A Place of Belonging
DEI funds bridge the gap for many Spartan students
March 1, 2023Give Green Day provides a unique opportunity to bolster DEI funds and projects that support a key goal of the MSU 2030 Strategic Plan to, “become a national leader in increasing diversity, promoting inclusion, ensuring equity and eliminating disparities on our campus and beyond.”
The Spartan family is made up of millions of extraordinary individuals from around the world, and MSU promotes their success by connecting students with the community resources to support them as individuals. According to Leeslie Herrera, a fourth-year student in the College of Social Science, “We must be able to create that bond with people and form a familia or community.” When students feel the support of their campus family, the entire Spartan community is strengthened. “By sticking by each other we help amplify the voices and ideas of all our communities.”
You can amplify Spartan voices by contributing to many funds and projects that serve incoming Spartans, first-generation students and those from underserved communities. Supporting students and emphasizing the value of diversity is the focus of many of these DEI initiatives. They ensure that every student knows they are heard, they belong, and they are all Spartans. Join us to support these and many other DEI initiatives this Give Green Day.
