Support the Chicano/Latino Studies Program

Founded in 1997, the Chicano/Latino Studies Program (CLS) is an inclusive, university-wide academic program that offers a transdisciplinary approach to education, research, and engagement that centers the contributions of Chicanas/os/x and   Latinas/os/x in the United States. Housed in the College of Social Science (CSS), CLS has been advancing the mission of the CSS and MSU in the following ways:

  • Providing undergraduate and graduate students a rigorous, transdisciplinary, transformative, and student-centered curriculum that recognizes, explores, and analyzes the knowledge and contributions of Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x populations in the United States and in doing so, prepares students to become critical, inclusive, and engaged citizens in their fields.
  • Conducting data-based and social-justice oriented quality research that acknowledges, among other factors, the role of race, ethnicity, gender, class, and immigration in Chicanas/os/x’ and Latinas/os/x’ experiences and proposes multidimensional actions to make a positive difference in people’s lives and across populations.
  • Fostering inclusive collaborations within and between Michigan State University and local and global communities that seek to contribute to overcoming today’s challenges.

Give to the Chicano/Latino Studies' Student Success Fund

Your gift will be used to provide emergency funding for CLS students. When tough times happen, having an added layer of community support from Chicano/Latino Studies can often make the difference if a student can feasibly continue to pursue their education.
