Thaddeus Muzyczko Memorial Scholarship

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Thaddeus (Ted) Muzyczko passed away. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather. He was known for his exceptionally high intelligence, fixing problems with simple ordinary items you may find around your home, his willingness to help others and his sense of humor.

Ted attended the University of Illinois Chicago where he began his competitive gymnastics career. He lettered in both track and gymnastics. He later transferred to Michigan State where he majored in Chemical Engineering. His collegiate gymnastics career continued, and in 1958 Ted led MSU to the NCAA Team Gold.

Ted’s passion for gymnastics evolved and he became the first US judge to be internationally certified. He also developed a short hand judging system, revised the judging certification process, was co-founder of the National Gymnastics Judges Association, board member of the USGF and Technical Director for the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG). He judged over 1000 meets/competitions during his career including some Olympics.

Ted continued his education at Roosevelt University where he received a Masters Degree and went on to become a lecturer and Assistant Professor in polymer physics and chemistry teaching at Roosevelt and the College of DuPage. He spent 55 years working in the chemical engineering field as an innovator developing over 60 US and international patents and authoring numerous publications. The last trade show he spoke at he was introduced as the Godfather of the rubber industry.

Your Support Will Make a Big Difference

Because of Ted's passion for athletics and innovation in the field of chemical enginnering, we are seeking donations to establish a memorial scholarship in his honor. The scholarship will spport MSU student athletes studying natural sciences.
