Tara McMahon Suicide Awareness Bench

On February 21st, 2021, MSU student Tara McMahon lost her battle to mental health illnesses. Tara suffered from depression and anxiety, which caused her to withdraw from MSU in March of 2020 to focus on addressing her mental health.

To remember Tara and the battle she fought, please consider making a gift to place a bench on-campus to show your support of suicide awareness and prevention.

Support Suicide Awareness

Mental health illnesses among students are on the rise nationwide, and resources to help students address and cope with mental health illnesses are a constant need. MSU is commited to supporting our students in all aspects of their college experience and provide the variety of resources they may need. Student Health and Wellness offers programs designed to help students develop healthy behaviors, support and manage their mental health, and receive immediate support in a crisis.

The Impact Your Gift Will Make

Your gift will go to supporting the creation and placement of the Tara McMahon Suicide Awareness Bench near the library on the MSU campus. This bench will serve as a reminder to other students on-campus that their mental health matters and to seek help when they are struggling with mental health illnesses of their own.

The bench will be installed and unveiled in the early Summer of 2022 for friends and family. The bench will be located on a walkway just off of West Circle Drive. Please consider making a gift today.
