Student Veterans Resource Center

MSU Rock painted to say Happy Veterans Day.Here at MSU, we are committed to veteran success. The Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) exists to help military veterans and their families achieve academic and personal success. The SVRC is staffed by military veterans and dependents with a strong passion for helping our students.

These are just some of the services and resources we provide:

  • Space for meetings, studying, and socializing
  • VA benefits and health information
  • Financial aid application support
  • Scholarship opportunities
  • Transition services
  • Career counseling and employment/internship opportunities
  • Referrals to many other programs and services both on and off campus

Give to the Student Veterans Resource Center and help provide opportunities for Spartan veterans

One of the most popular and impactful ways we support our students is through the Peer Advisors for Veteran Education (PAVE) Program. PAVE connects incoming veteran students to a team of student veteran leaders serving as peer advisors who can provide guidance, support, and mentorship as fellow student veterans who have been there before. From guidance about finances and academic support to advice on bus schedules and navigating campus, PAVE advisors help new student veterans find the tools they need to successfully transition to life at MSU.

We’ve had this program for two and a half years, and the results have been amazing! Students genuinely feel supported by the program, and it gives veterans a chance to give back. PAVE costs $6,000 a year and funds are needed to ensure this critical resource is available for veterans in the future.

Your contribution directly impacts student veteran success at MSU

Your donation will help student veterans navigate roadblocks and achieve success by providing enhanced peer mentoring and academic support resources. With distance learning, additional support is more essential than ever to make sure that we can continue to provide our students with the resources they need to be successful in remote settings. Funds raised through this project will help this program continue at MSU by providing a stipend for our peer advisors and additional resources for advising events, virtual team-building workshops, and other programming needs to support MSU student veterans.

This fundraising project is run through the Student Veterans Resource Center by the coordinator. The coordinator oversees the project funding and ensures that the program team leader and peer advisors are hired and trained and provides them with student data. The team leader oversees the advisors, making sure they are meeting required advising benchmarks and ensuring they are trained.
