Support the Student Parent Resource Center

Approximately 5-10% of students at MSU identify as having at least one child under age 17. Many student parents feel isolated and alone in navigating life as a student. The Student Parent Resource Center (SPRC) is student-family centered in providing resources and support to all student parents and their children. SPRC strives to assist students in feeling seen, heard and recognized.

Students with children want to be engaged in the life of MSU. SPRC exists to aid in their goals. Students with children need advocates, mentors, and cheerleaders in their corner. SPRC provides resources including, but not limited to:

  • Limited financial childcare support
  • Family educational and enrichment programs
  • Essential/basic needs support (diapers, school supplies, access to food)
  • Links and connections to community resources

Your Support Will Make a Big Difference

The Two Generations, One Bright Future project’s goal is to expand access to supportive services for students with children at MSU. Rising costs of child-care, essential everyday items such as food, clothing, transportation, and school supplies creates additional stress, impacting a student’s ability to persist in their education and earning their degree.

This project will help ease the financial stress for student parents by supporting their everyday life. This support will aid student parents in better engaging in their life as a student at MSU. They will gain opportunities to be more involved in their academic programs, research activities, and provide fun, meaningful bonding time with their children and other MSU student families.

Gifts will directly support student parents by increasing access to a variety of services, including:

  • Scholarships
  • Child-care support
  • Basic needs support
  • Children’s enrichment activities
  • Peer support and community building
  • Leadership skill development
