Championing Caregivers – A Giving Program for Student Parents and Caregivers

A growing number of MSU students are also caregivers, balancing their education with the responsibility of providing physical, financial, and emotional support for loved ones. Approximately 5-10% of MSU students identify as having at least one child under age 17. These student caregivers bring resilience and academic dedication to campus, yet often face feelings of isolation as they navigate their unique roles.

The Student Parent & Caregivers Resource Center (SPRC) is dedicated to supporting these students and their families. Through resources and community-building, SPRC helps student caregivers connect, find a supportive network, and strengthen their sense of belonging at MSU.

With additional support, MSU’s student caregivers are eager to engage more fully in campus life and pursue their academic and personal goals. SPRC is here to champion their success, providing advocacy, mentorship, and encouragement so they can thrive in all aspects of life at MSU.

Your Support Will Make a Big Difference

The Championing Caregivers Project empowers student caregivers at MSU to fully engage in both their academic pursuits and campus life. Through this initiative, we aim to increase access to professional development opportunities by providing financial support for attending and presenting at conferences, helping student caregivers build skills, network, and advance in their fields. Additionally, your financial contribution will provide:

  • Basic needs support
  • Child-care support
  • Children’s enrichment activities
  • Peer support and community building
  • Leadership skill development

Project Budget
