MSU Student Food Bank

Through these challenging times, the Student Food Bank is open to serve those in need. Because of so many changes, we're seeing a new population requiring our services. Your contribution is more important than ever. Support from the Spartan community is critical to our success serving the community. Financial donations are the easiest and most effective way you can make a difference in fighting food insecurity.

The food bank distributing food to the communityThere is no better purpose in life that to give service to others and be present during times of anxiety and need. The MSU Student Food Bank serves 7,000-8,000 visitors per year, including students and families, and the beginning of the semester is a particularly busy time for us.

The MSU Student Food Bank is the first food bank for students by students. The Food Bank's relationship with the Greater Lansing Food Bank allows them to purchase food at a lower cost, allowing donations to go much further. With little overhead cost, the food bank is able to make the most of every dollar. All gifts make a BIG difference. For example, a gift of $50 helps us purchase about 88 pounds of food for Spartans in need. A gift of $100 helps us purchase about 175 pounds of food. Any student enrolled at MSU is eligible to use the services of the food bank. They distribute food weekly to those in need. Students sign up using an online sign up system to maintain contactless ordering and pick ups.

They always have vegetables, fruits, soups, pasta or rice, various proteins, cereal and other household items available for student’s selection once an appointment has been made. Additionally, the food bank almost always has fresh produce, bread, and cheese available to pick up. Any support given is greatly appreciated so they can continue to serve students in need.
