The Michigan State University Solar Racing Team is currently improving Aurora, our latest and greatest solar-powered electric vehicle, and we need your help!

Aurora is our way to create a solar vehicle that would be practical for the general public. Aurora has everything you would expect from a modern automobile including comfortable seating for a driver and passenger, a large infotainment display, and trunk space for personal items. We have added these features in addition to a 1.3 kW solar array, and custom designed 13 kWh lithium ion battery pack; all powering dual electric motors.

Help the Solar Racing Team Win Gold!

This year we will be competing in two separate competitions, the first will be held in Topeka, Kansas where we will race in the Formula Sun Grand Prix (FSGP). The next competition is the American Solar Challenge (ASC). ASC is an intense 1,500 mile-long race between multiple cities across the country over the course of seven tough days. For 2021, the route is along the Oregon Trail from Independence, Missouri to Boise, Idaho

With your support, we will be able to finish the necessary improvements needed to come home with gold!

Project Budget

Our team is working to raise $10,000 to pay for a fully integrated electrical system, an updated body and solar array, ergonomic improvements, and testing of the car before competition.

Who We Are

Our team is comprised of around 100 undergraduate engineering students united by the goal to create a sustainable and compelling transportation alternative. By designing and manufacturing these innovative vehicles, we aim to showcase the cutting edge of electric vehicle and solar power technology.
