Adopt a piece of Aurora!
The Michigan State University Solar Racing Team is starting construction of Aurora, our latest and greatest, solar-powered electric vehicle, and we need your help!
Our team is comprised of around 50 undergraduate engineering students united by the goal to create a sustainable and compelling transportation alternative. By designing and manufacturing these innovative vehicles, we aim to showcase the cutting edge engineering of electric vehicle and solar power technology.
Our newest endeavor doubles down on this mission by striving to create a vehicle that would be practical for the general public. Aurora will have everything you would expect from a modern automobile. This includes comfortable seating for a driver and passenger, a large infotainment display, and trunk space for personal items. We have added these features in addition to a 1kW solar array, and custom designed 10 kWh lithium ion battery pack; all powering dual electric motors that deliver 12.5 kW of rear wheel drive power.
Make your mark on Aurora!
For the construction of Aurora, we are giving supporters the opportunity to “adopt” a piece of the car! In order to raise funds and build support for the team, supporters and fans will be able to sponsor either a battery module or solar array module. All contributors will have their name placed on their adopted part, and any contributions of $500 or more will have their name placed on the side of our completed car alongside our other sponsors!
Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated and bring us closer to our goal of creating the next generation of sustainable transportation!
Who We Are
Founded in 2001, the MSU Solar Racing Team (SRT) has designed and built four solar-powered electric vehicles. This project provides a unique and rewarding educational experience for the engineering and business undergraduate students on the team. MSU SRT allows students to hone their engineering skills by creating something they are passionate about, while also publicly promoting the revolutionary technology behind solar power and electric vehicles.
