Send MSU NABJ to the 2020 Summer Convention

The MSU chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists aspires to ensure that every member has multiple internships before graduation and job opportunities after graduation.MSU NABJ holds workshops and creates many opportunities for students at Michigan State to grow and change the world. We work to make all races, especially minorities, feel like they have a space and a family to turn to if no one else has their back.

Through these tasks we hope to provide our members with the skill sets they need to be successful within the field of journalism/media after college.

Each summer, NABJ hosts a national convention. We prepare our members for this invaluable event all year. With enough funds, we can cover every student member’s registration fee for the 2020 NABJ Convention this summer, ensuring that every member has a chance to attend this life-changing event.

Your support will make a huge difference in every student member's life by relieving the financial burden that so many of us struggle with. Without the financial stresses, each member has the opportunity to really focus on achieving success at the 2020 National Association of Black Journalists Convention.

This project will allow at least 40 MSU students to explore many different outlets of news and journalism. This convention is a place for both recent grads and current students to network, look for internship and job opportunities, and learn from some of the best journalists in the country. The career fair gives everyone the chance to approach real professionals and sell themselves quickly to obtain information about what that station offers. The different workshops offered teach students about television, print media, entertainment and so much more.

Our goal is to raise $12,000 to cover the $300 registration fee for each MSU NABJ member

The money raised will be used toward sending our members to the 2020 national convention this summer. After the money is raised, we will pass it on to the National Board, which will then use it to pay the $300 registration fee for each of our members. Members will pay for their own airfare and hotel rooms.

Who We Are

We are the MSU chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. Our mission is to provide our members and students with the best opportunities within the realm of journalism through workshops, internship opportunities, scholarships, and job opportunities after college within the media field.

The team that is running the project is the MSU chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. Our hope is to get our members to the NABJ Convention in July 2019. This convention helps our members to make connections with people from big-name companies and stations such as ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, NBCUniversal, and many other affiliations.

This opportunity will help our members connect with these world-renowned companies and meet a wide array of journalists just like them. In addition to broadcast journalists, they will also be able to network with print journalists and people who work behind the scenes in media and journalism.
