Support the Michigan Pollinators Initiative and the New Bee-Mobile

Michigan State University supports bees, beekeepers, and pollinators through our research and extension efforts. In 2015 MSU started the Michigan Pollinator Initiative, a program to support pollinators and the stakeholders that depend on them. We participate in a variety of projects: we perform pollinator research; work with growers, beekeepers, veterinarians, and pesticide applicators; and keep honey bee hives all over the state as part of our Sentinel Apiary Program, Heroes to Hives Program, and to teach beekeepers. We cover the state with our teaching, research, and beekeeping, and we need a vehicle so we can do our work.

Your Support Will Make a Big Difference

The current truck situation for the MPI

This project will support a bee truck for the Michigan Pollinator Initiative. Since 2015, we have been relying on the kindness of other labs and groups to borrow extra vehicles. This means that we are constantly working our schedule around other programs, and are unloading and loading our equipment every day. Your support means we can have our own vehicle that can keep our equipment safe and allow us to keep a schedule that is the best for our bees. Your gifts will help defray the cost of a truck for the Michigan Pollinator Initiative.

Who We Are

The Michigan Pollinator Initiative is a group of researchers and extension faculty and staff who are working to support Michigan pollinators and the people who depend on them. Dr. Meghan Milbrath is the project coordinator.
