Lake County 4-H Learning Kits

4-H members in Lake County have the opportunity to connect with their peers and volunteers through online programs, at home program kits, and future face-to-face hands-on experiences.

With your support we can expand access to those opportunities for young people in Lake County.

Lake County 4-H’s commitment to positive youth development is unwavering and 4-H remains present to support youth during this COVID-19 crisis.  While face-to-face 4-H club meetings and events are not possible currently, Lake County 4-H would like to offer 4-H Learning Kits to all 4-H youth, ages 5 – 19, within the county.

What began as a 4-H summer program, the 4-H Learning Kit program became very popular with more kit requests than donations allowed.  Because of this, Lake County 4-H would like to expand the program into fall. Our goal is for each 4-H member to receive a 4-H Learning Kit, provided with $8.00 worth of resources, monthly from November through spring and/or when meeting in person can be done safely, due to COVID-19 concerns.  Currently, Lake County 4-H program has 100 youth enrolled which is why we need your help.

The 4-H Learning Kits will allow youth the opportunity to express themselves in a positive, tangible, and meaningful way while instilling a sense of achievement and pride, boosting their self-confidence all while developing life skills. In addition, it will serve to connect to the young people of the county since many do not have access to internet service or reliable service.

Give to Lake County 4-H to help fund 4-H Learning Kits for all 4-H youth

Each 4-H Learning Kit, valued at $8.00, would include 2 or 3 hands-on STEAM projects, complete with instructions and supplies and 1 mindfulness, self-awareness activity, complete with instructions and supplies. At $8.00/per kit and serving 100 kids, we need $800 per month to cover kit supplies. A total of $5,000 will cover the cost of 100 kits per month through April.

The donation will be applied toward the 4-H Learning Kits and not toward direct mailing or administration cost. Promotional and marketing efforts will include direct emails to 4-H families, 4-H county newsletter emails, social media postings and photos, and newspaper articles. 4-H Learning Kits will be assembled by 4-H program coordinator.
