Jim Lucas Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Jim Lucas passed away this February after an impactful 30 years as a Spartan. Jim was a valued leader, mentor, teacher, friend, and colleague whose dedication and contributions profoundly shaped Michigan State University.

Jim arrived at MSU in 1991, and over the last three and a half decades, he was a Spartan undergraduate and graduate student, an instructor, and an administrator who always centered students and their needs. Most recently, as Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Curriculum, Jim was instrumental in advancing undergraduate education, fostering academic innovation, and integrating experiential, DEI, and global learning into MSU’s programs. His leadership in curriculum development, policy reform, and student success initiatives, including the Spartan Early Start Program and Undergraduate Academic Program Review, reflected his unwavering commitment to education and student achievement.

Your support will help memorialize Jim’s legacy

Jim’s impact on this campus through his time as a student and as an administrator has been vast. To honor that legacy, we are seeking funds for an endowed scholarship in his memory.
