Future Nurses Club Summer Camp
Imagine experiencing summer camp for the first time. For many of the students attending the Future Nurses Club Summer Camp, this is their first time on a college campus and their only chance to attend a summer camp.
The Future Nurses Club Summer Camp serves to ignite the possibility of a career in nursing for educationally and economically vulnerable high school students. This one-week residential camp is held each summer on Michigan State University’s campus. High school students live in a residential hall with mentors and participate in activities such as AHA Heartsaver First Aid training (completing certification).
During the week, students:
- Interact with nursing faculty, students, and mannequins in the Janice and Alton Granger simulation lab
- Learn about the MSU campus and the College of Nursing programs
- Tour local hospitals
And, finally, these students become a community as they develop learning and life skills while making new friends.
