With the limited music resources available in Lansing-area schools, many young children in our community are being deprived of an essential learning component that has proven to help students succeed in school and in life. Through the study of music, children have acquired important life skills such as confidence, focus, discipline, creative thinking, communication, and more!
At MSU Community Music School, we have witnessed, first-hand, the impact that music can have on a child. We’ve seen students with low self-esteem, social or behavioral issues, or difficulties focusing, grow as musicians and people using the skills learned through their music lessons. With your help today, MSU Community Music School can provide more opportunities for local kids to experience the power of music.
Dedicated to providing music opportunities for local elementary students, MSU Community Music School developed the SingFest outreach program. SingFest is designed to bring together students from Lansing-area schools in grades three through six and provide them with a fun day of learning songs, singing, and ultimately performing for friends and family. With nearly 70 students participating in SingFest last year, the impact and reach that this program has within our community is tremendous.
Your contributions will help provide scholarships to Lansing-area elementary students so they may participate in the MSU Community Music School SingFest outreach program.
The cost for this program is $35 per student, which helps cover the provided lunch and SingFest program t-shirt. Although any amount given helps, reaching our goal of $525 will provide 15 students with full scholarships – removing the financial barrier that may have originally prevented these students from participating in this valuable program.
