CVM Student Emergency Assistance Fund

Every year, our students face emergencies, and they turn to the college for help. To provide money for students in need of support, the college established the Student Emergency Assistance Fund. 

Amongst our most recent graduating D.V.M. classes these past two years, one student faced the unimaginable: They had been diagnosed with cancer. However, their treatment was in Houston, far from campus. In order to afford the costs of traveling to Texas every three months, the student needed financial assistance. Thankfully, the Student Emergency Fund provided immediate resources they needed for their crucial medical care. 

Current Resource for Students

The Emergency Fund provides up to $5,000, in the form of a loan, for students in need. The loan has a 0% interest rate and is due within 60 days, making it truly for emergencies. When the unexpected happens and students need short-term help to get through it, the Emergency Fund provides that help. 

Project Budget

Recently, we are seeing more demand for the Emergency Fund. From providing transportation, housing, child care, and laptop replacement- the Emergency Fund has been a source of desperately needed aid for so many students. 

Because costs have increased significantly, the maximum amount granted was increased from $2,500 to $5,000. 

With your help we can make sure funds are available for any emergency. Our students should not stand alone in moments of need.
