MSU Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC)
Current Resource for Students
CRC All Recovery Meetings - Students in recovery, those striving for recovery, and allies are continuing to meet every Thursday at 8 p.m. (EST) via Zoom. CRC alumni have also been participating in these virtual meetings. Please contact CRC Coordinator, Dawn Kepler, at email@example.com for information on how students can access the weekly CRC Zoom Meetings.
Virtual Lounge - Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. (EST) & for an hour after the CRC All Recovery Meeting via Zoom
- The idea behind the CRC Virtual Lounge is to create time and space for less formal social interactions, just like in the CRC Student Lounge on campus.
- Please contact CRC Coordinator, Dawn Kepler, at firstname.lastname@example.org for information on how students can access the CRC Virtual Lounge.
CRC Virtual Office Hours - Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at noon via Zoom
- This is an opportunity for students to drop-in, touch base with someone in the CRC, and use this time to focus on anything that could be helpful for them: check-in, talk about accountability, share gratitude, study "as a group," etc.
- Please contact CRC Coordinator, Dawn Kepler, at email@example.com for information on how students can access CRC Virtual Office Hours.
Individualized Recovery Planning - One-on-one appointments with students have been moved to Zoom. CRC staff are available to support students in developing recovery plans and for virtual check-in meetings to review their goals and update action plans.
CRC Wellness Workshop: "Cultivating Resilience in the Context of Recovery and the Coronavirus" facilitated by Dr. Angie Kennedy, School of Social Work, on Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m. (EST) via Zoom. Please contact CRC Coordinator, Dawn Kepler, at firstname.lastname@example.org for information on how students can access the Workshop.
CRC Study & Self-Care Packages - We are sending care packages to students in recovery who sign up with items to help with studying and self-care as finals draw near.
CRC Emergency Funds - The CRC is providing emergency funds of up to $500 for students in recovery who have been financially impacted by the coronavirus (i.e. unexpected travel home, storage facility rental, loss of job, etc.).
Global Day of Service: Narcan/Naloxone Opioid Overdose Prevention Training - Students, alumni, partners, and other allies are encouraged to virtually participate in an online Narcan/Naloxone training to learn how to help prevent opioid overdoses. While staying safe at home, everyone can engage in this service opportunity through online training offered internationally at https://www.getnaloxonenow.org/#gettraining. Michigan residents can sign up to participate in FAN's free online training and get a Narcan kit sent to them, as well: https://www.familiesagainstnarcotics.org/narcan.
Your Support Will Make a Difference
Donations made to the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) at this time will be used to provide emergency funds for students in recovery. Students who are part of MSU’s CRC have reported being in financial distress as a result of unexpected travel out of state to stay with family, storage facility rentals, loss of jobs, etc. MSU students in recovery who have been financially impacted by the coronavirus can apply for up to $500 while emergency funds last.
