Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS)
During these unprecedented times caused by the spread of COVID-19, students are finding themselves alone on campus or back home mid-semester facing new and unexpected challenges. Through it all, MSU CAPS remains the primary mental health center for MSU students.
CAPS is committed to connecting every student to the care needed to be academically successful and healthy. In order to accommodate distance learning and student needs, we provide a combination of telehealth appointments and in person appointments. For our psychiatry patients, a laid off parent or loss of insurance coverage can be the difference between getting needed treatment and dropping out of school. Insurance plans that cover in-person visits, do not necessarily provide coverage for services by phone or over video.
We are doing everything we can to ensure students will continue to access the care they need and not have to shoulder the burden of additional costs. To do this requires additional resources. Your support today will allow us to continue supporting as many Spartans as we can as they adjust to increased uncertainty and challenges associated with the current crisis.
Support Counseling and Psychiatric Services
Funds will be used to pay for psychiatric care that is not funded by health insurance or university allocations. A donation of $150 can help pay for one psychiatry visit for an MSU student.
Who We Are
College is filled with excitement, learning, and new experiences. It is also a time when students will be challenged and may feel uncertain, lost, overwhelmed, or down.
We are here to help. CAPS is committed to providing and connecting MSU students to a wide array of services and resources to address mental health concerns. These may include short-term individual counseling, telehealth counseling, medication, or referrals to other services.
