RADD Lab Research Funding
(Research in Autism and Developmental Disabilities)

The RADD Lab is a research lab at Michigan State University dedicated to research related to autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. RADD stands for - Research in Autism and Developmental Disabilities. The lab is directed by Sarah N. Douglas, Ph.D. - and Associate Professor in the Human Family Studies Department. Our work within the RADD Lab is focused on supporting children with disabilities, their family members and their educational teams.

The RADD Lab includes graduate students and undergraduate research assistants who support our work. We have conducted projects related to family functioning and support, peer relationships, children's communication and functioning, paraeducator support in schools, and professional development for educators. Our work is primarily within applied settings such as community settings, classrooms, and the homes of families. Lab members are focused on publishing and presenting their work in academic, practitioner, and media platforms. With all of our projects we strive to conduct research that is applicable, useful, and directly impacts the lives of children with disabilities.

Give to the RADD Lab and help support autism related research!

Donated funds will be used to support pilot study research within the RADD Lab that is necessary to obtain larger scale funding. Current projects that might be funded to support these efforts include communication partner training programs, paraeducator training/supervision research, social interaction research for children with ASD, sexuality education for individuals with ASD and intellectual disabilities, inclusive educational supports for children with ASD and other developmental disabilities, and health care supports for families of children with ASD and developmental disabilities.

Specifically your support will help fund:

  • Graduate student research,
  • Undergraduate research support for data collection, data coding, and data analysis,
  • Travel expenses related to data collection,
  • Technology purchases for projects (e.g., video cameras, sensor systems, tablets for remote interventions),
  • Travel to present research findings and conferences and
  • Participant incentives.
