Nursing Student Emergency Fund

A financial emergency can seriously threaten a nursing student’s ability to continue or even complete their nursing program. In the wake of the COVID-19 global pandemic, we are learning about the future and current needs of our students. As they continue to study, work and volunteer on the frontlines of healthcare, the College of Nursing Student Emergency Fund will support students whose education has been disrupted. Now more than ever, Spartan nursing education is vital.

The Nursing Student Emergency Fund will provide short-term financial resources to help students cope with emergency situations. The emergency may be related to the potential loss of housing, catastrophic loss of belongings through theft or accident, the need for unplanned travel, or similar life occurrences. The Nursing Student Emergency Fund truly is for the “if” in life.

Visit this link to see how the college is celebrating the extraordinary work of Spartan Nurses during a time when they are needed the most.

Accelerated BSN student, Laurel Bonfiglio, is one of many nursing students who are facing financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a time of need, the Nursing Student Emergency Fund was able to give her the support she needed. Listen to her story below:

Give to Help MSU Nursing Students Manage Their Education During Financial Emergencies

When a Spartan Nursing student has a financial emergency that threatens the continuance or completion of their nursing program, the Nursing Student Emergency Fund will be available to provide short-term financial resources to help the student weather the emergency. This emergency financial assistance may well be the deciding factor in whether a student becomes a Spartan Nurse, has to postpone their education, or even drops out of MSU.
