Support MSU Tollgate Farm to Table Livestock Luncheon
Throughout this past year, our MSU Tollgate family played an integral part in supporting the MSU Tollgate Livestock Program. The triumphs of our 4-H youth and staff through a year of uncertainty is most certainly one for the books. As we hope the chapter of the pandemic is closing behind us, we recognize the 4-H youth and how they navigated through the challenges of the past year, overcoming obstacles and finding new meanings of success.
Help Provide Educational Opportunities for all
MSU Tollgate Farm and Education Center provides educational livestock learning experiences to youth who may not have had opportunities to interact with livestock in this way otherwise.
Supporting the MSU Tollgate Livestock Program ensures there are resources to teach the youth including, facilitating day camps, school trips, and educating MSU Tollgate visitors about farm animals and how to properly care for them. Your support also helps to keep our livestock fed, collect eggs, milk the goats, create goat milk soaps, and nurture the passion children have found in caring for animals through MSU Tollgate. Through these programs, youth learn animal and veterinary science, as well as life skills of compassion, dedication, and hard work, which will be carried on throughout their lives.
MSU Tollgate Farm and Education Center provides hands-on educational experiences with livestock for youth throughout Oakland County. Many of these children grow up in urban/suburban areas, without access to the experience of raising and caring for livestock. The MSU Tollgate Livestock Program gives youth the opportunity to be a part of the 4-H program and a chance to explore what farm life is all about – from feeding the animals and collecting chicken eggs, to creating things such as goat milk soap, from the goats they help take care of.
The livestock program also makes a difference in the lives of the campers who attend the various day camps here at MSU Tollgate. The Vet Science Camp would not be possible without a livestock program and staff lead. The livestock provide a sense of happiness to guests who explore the farm – especially the children who jump with joy when they see the real cows or lambs grazing the fields.
Please consider making a gift today, to make a positive impact in the lives of the many youth and animals this program benefits.
