JMC Emergency Scholarship Fund
Your donation to James Madison College’s Emergency Scholarship Fund directly supports students who might otherwise struggle to reach graduation.
Did you know that JMC has one of the highest four-year graduation rates of MSU’s colleges? Over the last 10 years, an average of 59% of first-year Madisonians stayed enrolled at the college and graduated within four years. This figure is 20% higher than the MSU average for students who stay within their first-year college. JMC’s commitment to student success is strengthened by the Emergency Scholarship Fund, which allows students to stay enrolled and reach their academic goals in the face of unexpected financial hardships.
Directly Support JMC Student Success
In the last five years alone, this fund has issued nearly 200 scholarships to Madison students for circumstances related to unstable housing, unexpected medical bills or family emergencies. These scholarships provide financial support for essential academic tools like textbooks and technology and covered other living expenses that may have forced students to withdraw from the college. This fund allows the college to offer real help during these critical moments and support students to stay enrolled at the college during times of hardship.
The Impact of Your Gift
Your donations serve as a bridge, helping students cross unexpected financial gaps without abandoning their educational goals. The reach of these emergency scholarships extends far beyond financial assistance – they demonstrate to our students that they belong here, that their academic journey matters to our entire community.
Who We Are
We are James Madison College deans, faculty members, academic advisors, support staff and alumni who care deeply about student success. We are honored to continue the mission of this fund, established by the college in 2013. All members of the James Madison College Alumni Association have committed to donating to the fund this Giving Tuesday.
