Spartans Helping the Spartan Community

Let's keep the momentum going! While $5,000 was our goal, the more donations we receive, the more supplies we can provide to local students and schools!

The MSU Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) and the MSU Alumni Office invite you to participate in the 13th Annual “Fill the Bus” event. We strive to give local students and families a great start to the new school year!

Students posing with MSU Center for Community Engagement staff.Your Support Will Make a Big Difference

With increased needs for personal protective equipment and new school supplies, as well as the challenges of a move back to in-person learning, our schools, teachers, parents, and students need our support more than ever before.

This year we will not be able to accept in-person donations. Instead, all supplies will be purchased (based on each school district and non-profits need and quantity) shipped directly to local school districts and non-profit organizations focused on youth mentorship and education.

Project Budget

Funds raised will be divided between 5 partners to purchase the supplies requested. Just $20 is enough to provide notebooks and pencils for an entire class of students! There is no minimum amount required to donate and each donation will make a difference.

Examples include:

  • $5- 3 notebooks and a pack of pens & pencils for a student OR 5 notebooks or 10 packs of markers for the class
  • $10– 20 packs of colored pencils
  • $20– Much needed disposable masks and disinfectant wipes OR a kids backpack
  • $50– A brand-new adult-sized backpack OR a complete set of PPE (cloth masks, disposable masks, Clorox wipes, all-purpose cleaner, Kleenax) for a home/classroom

Partners include:

  • MSU Student Parent Resource Center
  • East Lansing Public Schools
  • Lansing Public Schools
  • Edgewood Village Network Center
  • The Spartan Child Development Center
