College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) Whole Student Success Fund

Student success is often evaluated in terms of grades, academic progress, or graduation rates. But for College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) students facing emergency situations or financial hardships, success may be measured by whether they are able to pay their rent, afford groceries and necessary supplies, or access the health and wellness resources needed to navigate life. For others it may mean being able to find funding to cover educational costs and unanticipated expenses when difficulties arise.

The CANR Whole Student Success fund was established to help our students address these critical, time-sensitive needs, such as food insecurity, housing expenses, technology gaps, and other emergency situations that may create funding barriers to a students’ academic achievement.

Your gift to the CANR Whole Student Success Fund will directly benefit students in need by removing roadblocks on the path to graduation. Some of these barriers students typically encounter, include:

  • The average cost of a college textbook is between $100-150, with the average student spending between $600-$1,200 annually on this vital resource.
  • Less $1,000 can help a student dealing with temporary housing or food insecurity due to loss of a job or financial challenges.
  • Less than $1,000 can convert a student from handwriting notes to using essential technology that allows them to engage in classes in a new, more participatory way.
  • $1,500 paid for student wellness activities last spring, so that our students could find support and community with their classmates and peers.
  • Offsetting the cost of publication fees can be a huge difference maker for graduate students that need to publish research to take the next step in their education or career, but those fees can range from $2,500-$10,000+ per publication.

You support makes a makes a critical impact!

We know that our students are the next generation of leaders and innovators, but without the resources they need to make it to graduation, we may never see the impact they can make. During this season of giving, our CANR Spartan community can come together and show our students that they matter, and we care.

Will you join our CANR Spartan community today by supporting the “whole student success” of our students by making a gift today?
