Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (AFRE) - Snacks for Success
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resource first launched “Snacks for Success” in 2018 to draw attention to food insecurity impacting our students. Here in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics (AFRE), a department responsible for food, we are well-positioned to raise awareness of hunger’s effect on education and how it impacts our students’ ability to succeed academically.
Your Support Will Make a Big Difference
AFRE is committed to caring for the whole student because we know that whole-person success will follow. We hope you’ll consider contributing so we can support our students by alleviating a barrier to their success. Funds received will be used to purchase food, supplies and other materials needed.
Why Snacks for Success matters:
“The weekly snacks are helpful because they provide me with that small boost that I often need to stay productive and on task, while also showing me that the department cares about my success.” - Brandon B
“As a student in the AFRE department, the weekly snacks are greatly appreciated because they help me connect with my peers while also accomplishing my classwork and taking a snack break when necessary.” - Alexis A
“The weekly snacks really help me get through my day. It is really nice having a place where I can stop and get a quick snack when I need to.” - Carlson E
“As a runner, adequate fueling is important in my life, and the AFRE snacks allow me to power through my classes so I can have successful runs.” - Sara D
“I am truly grateful for the support and guidance our amazing AFRE department has provided not just for me but for all students. I appreciate how they always have their doors open to us and are willing to go the extra mile to facilitate resources. I will always be thankful for just being able to stop by between classes to grab a snack, say hello and receive encouragement. I love the work they do, and I hope we can continue to see things like AFRE’s weekly snacks happen as they show commitment to the students and make us feel supported.” - Ruben M
“I enjoy the weekly snacks because I spend most of my day in class and do not have time to grab lunch. The snacks give me more energy to get through the day.” - Mackenzie S
