Advancing the mission of Title IX | Enhancing Equality & Equity in a Culture of Excellence

37 words changed the course of history, creating opportunities and leveling the playing field for equality. 

On June 23, 1972, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 was signed into law, stating, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

Throughout the 2022-23 year, Michigan State Athletics will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
