MSU’s 2022 Give Green Day set for March 15

One-day social media campaign supports students.

Michigan State University’s sixth Give Green Day will take place on March 15 this year.

The day is a 24-hour, social media-driven campaign to engage Spartans and friends across the world in giving back to the causes they care about, all to support students at MSU. Last year, MSU raised more than $1.2 million on Give Green Day from 7,039 donors, representing a 38% increase in people contributing over 2020. Of that total, 1,273 were making a gift to MSU for the first time.

As they did in 2021, the MSU Federal Credit Union is a Give Green Day sponsor, providing matching funds that will be used in giving challenges throughout the day.

“MSUFCU is proud to partner with MSU during Give Green Day this year. We hope to encourage giving from others who will come alongside and invest in the programs, services and scholarships that support students in areas of greatest need and significant impact,” says April Clobes, president and CEO of MSUFCU.

Last year, 55 MSU Alumni Clubs from across the world participated during the day, raising $232,272 for club scholarships. MSU’s faculty, staff and retirees have also been active on Give Green Day. Last year, 1,147 of them contributed $173,594 on the day.

This year’s campaign also will feature multiple CrowdPower online fundraising projects to support student organizations, scholarships, and other initiatives.  All of MSU’s colleges will participate as well as other areas of the university including Athletics, Wharton Center for Performing Arts, the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, MSU Libraires, International Studies and Programs, among others.
