March 1, 2024Support in times of need fosters something greater: hope in the Spartan spirit and strength from community support. For many MSU students, emergency funds can make all the difference in a time of crisis. This crucial support ensures they don’t have to go without essentials or drop classes, and instead, they perservere and continue building a bright future at the university.
There are many funds at Michigan State which provide the resources for students who need help, such as the Lyman Briggs College (LBC) Student Emergency Fund. The fund provides up to $500 of financial support for costs arising from serious, unexpected, and potentially harmful situations requiring immediate action. Since Fall of 2021, over $15,000 in emergency funds have helped LBC students. Says one student recipient:
It could not have arrived at a better moment. In a time where financial stress is present each day, the gift from the LBC Student Emergency Fund brought me a sense of peace and security.
