Campus jobs turn passions into professions
Support for Broad Art Museum allows hands-on experience in the arts
February 10, 2025MJ Monteiro’s passion for art became an extraordinary pursuit at MSU. With Spartan support, they received funding as an art history and visual culture major and worked multiple student jobs supported by alumni.
Now as a senior who works at the Broad Art Museum, they see the positive impact of Spartan generosity firsthand. "Our museum actually happens to be completely free because of philanthropy and the gifts of MSU alum and otherwise,” says MJ.
These opportunities aligned with their interests, allowing them to gain valuable professional experience in the arts while continuing their studies.
They are especially grateful for their work as a gallery guide, an event assistant and an exhibitions assistant at the museum, in addition to their work as a resident assistant. “Being involved on campus is really meaningful,” says MJ.
Art continues to bring joy to MJ, and connects students, alumni and community members alike on campus. Together, they contribute creativity, explore new ideas and build the foundation for a better world.
