Between a Rock and a Green Place

It’s been 139 years since the class of 1873 employed 20 teams of oxen to haul “The Rock” from the Beal Garden to a central location.

Today, The Rock endures not only as a popular canvas for expression but also as one of the founding traditions for each graduating class to commemorate senior year with a class gift.  This year, the class of 2012 pledged more than $34,248 from 962 graduates to bolster the Sparty Mascot Program in the Student Alumni Foundation.

Here, students from the MSU Greenline pay tribute to the class gift spirit.
