Saginaw County 4-H

Saginaw County 4-H is growing future leaders! As part of the largest youth development organization in Michigan, Saginaw County 4-H provides youth with experiential learning opportunities to spark their curiosity for learning and discover their passion.  Youth are connected with their peers and dedicated volunteers through participation in specific program areas through the learn-by-doing approach. In addition to gaining valuable content knowledge, this model teaches 4-H members critical life skills such as goal-setting, self-discipline, conflict resolution and teamwork that directly contributes to the communities they live in.

With your support more youth in Saginaw county will participate in experiences like summer camps, educational workshops and events, and youth programming.  Support for these experiences helps eliminate cost barriers for youth participation.

Your Support Will Make a Big Difference

Your generous contribution will purchase national 4-H educational curriculum, program supplies and 4-H community resources.  It will also support program scholarships so more youth can attend 4-H camps and educational workshops and events.  By making a gift today, you will help us bring one of our most popular science programs, embryology, to classrooms and youth groups all across Saginaw County.

Any donation is appreciated. 4-H curriculum offers youth learning activities that reinforce the Michigan Core Standards.  Program scholarships assist youth attendance at 4-H county, state, and national experiences which encourage youth voice and empowerment.

Who We Are

Many people think 4-H is just for kids who live on farms or those interested in raising and selling animals – but that’s not true! Offering a diverse range of topics and interest areas to all youth ages 5 –19, 4-H provides experiences where young people learn by doing. Kids complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and citizenship, in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult volunteers and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles.

4-H is a youth development program of Michigan State University Extension located in Saginaw County.  Our mission is to create experiential opportunities designed so young people develop the skills and assets needed to be successful today and in the future through experiences that are:

  • youth directed and adult supported,
  • connected to the cutting-edge research of the land grant universities, and
  • supported by volunteers grounded in principles of positive youth development.
