Career Peer Program

Some of the best career advice a student can get is from a trained Career Peer!  These upper classmen students are members of the Career Services Network student advising team who have been selected based on their leadership, success, and commitment to helping their peers achieve their post-graduation goals.  The Career Peer team is fully trained in effective advising techniques, resume reviews, career exploration resources, and other key topics.  More importantly, they have first-hand experience in securing campus employment, paid internships, alumni mentors, and in utilizing valuable career resources to support their success.

Career Peers work with professional Career Services staff in providing career exploration advice and guidance, conducting mock interviews, reviewing resumes, assisting students in their job and internship search, and in accessing graduate school information and resources.  This group is especially helpful in scaling the needed support for career resources during peak recruiting periods each semester and in providing drop-in services to students who may need immediate assistance or help.

Your Support Will Help Ensure Spartan Success!

The donations received through this fund will support the addition of more Career Peers throughout campus to assist students seeking to secure employment, explore career pathways for their major, and create meaningful connections with alumni and employers.

Who We Are

The Career Services Network assists students in all stages of professional development, including exploring career options, choosing a major, finding campus employment, securing a meaningful internship experience, applying to graduate or professional school, and conducting a full-time job search. The Network’s service delivery model is a hybrid model and considered best-in-class because of the integrated partnerships that are maintained across the many colleges within the University.  This support model includes positioning career services professionals within each college who provide specialized services and support to students, employers, and recent alumni.  In total, the Network operates in 16 locations across campus and provides a full range of virtual support and services.

Among the key areas of focus are Career Education, Career Readiness and Employer Relations. As a result of the vast scope of services and support the Network provides and the collaborative approach the campus takes to student success, MSU boasts a 94% success rate among its graduates, 12% higher than the national average.  Additionally, 76% of undergraduate students complete at least one internship prior to graduation.
