On October 28, 2016, Michigan State University hosted its first-ever university-wide endowed faculty investiture ceremony to celebrate the teachers and researchers whose work is the backbone of MSU’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
President Lou Anna K. Simon and Provost June Pierce Youatt, recognized 41 endowed chairs, endowed professors, MSU Foundation Professors, and John A. Hannah Distinguished Professors, who were appointed to positions funded during Empower Extraordinary, the campaign for MSU.
Endowed faculty positions are funded in perpetuity by donors. These positions provide top scholars with financial support and security, along with the acknowledgment that they are actively engaged in leading-edge work at the top of the talent pyramid. At the 2016 Investiture, MSU was proud to recognize 114 donors who are making a difference through their support of faculty positions.
