Help send the MSU Women’s Lacrosse team to California to compete with some of the highest ranked teams in the nation! With a total of 30 women, our largest roster ever, we need all the help we can get to send our entire team out west. Through the generosity of our fans we hope to attend for the sixth year in a row!
As a club sports team at Michigan State University, we are entirely self-funded and rely on fundraising to help cover our travel expenses. Because we do not receive financial support from the university, our players pay out of pocket to be able to participate on the team. The money raised from this campaign will help offset various travel costs, and help send our team to the Santa Barbara Shootout in February!
The Santa Barbara Shootout is the biggest Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (WCLA) tournament in the United States and hosts more than 40 collegiate club teams and more than 100 teams total from all over the country. This gives our players the opportunity to play against some of the best teams in the nation and gain valuable on-field experience!
In past years we have had winning records, including ending last year’s trip with an exciting double-overtime win against The University of Oregon. We hope to come home victorious this year, and we need your support to make that possible!
The total cost to participate in the Santa Barbara Shootout is approximately $20,000. This price includes the tournament entry fee, airfare, ground transportation, lodging, and team meals. Any amount of money we are able to raise will make a tremendous difference for our team this season.
The Michigan State Women’s Club Lacrosse team is a student-run organization. This means that the players operate the club on their own, with peer nominated and elected officers to help organize and lead the team. We truly represent the meaning of the phrase “student-athlete.”
Operating and participating in this independent association teaches us useful planning, organizational, and business skills that are great for our futures. We travel across the United States each spring representing MSU and competing against the top collegiate club teams in the country.
