The Season of Giving. And, Giving Thanks!

Save the Dates for Fall 2022

As a current or former member of MSU’s faculty and staff, you support MSU with your professional efforts and expertise.

But, you also are exemplary in giving of your time and talents through your volunteerism and of your treasure through making gifts to the programs and initiatives you are passionate about.

Several important events are coming up where faculty, staff and retirees can continue to play a leadership role.

Join MSU for OneBigWeek

OneBigWeek is a joint effort of MSU and our fellow Big Ten institutions to show the collective impact of donors.

Join your fellow Spartans and friends Aug. 31-Sept. 7, 2022, to show the Big Ten community the difference Spartans can make. This year, Spartans are encouraged to support the MSU Student Food Bank.

Visit OneBIGWeek to learn more.

Join Spartans Serve Week, Sept. 17-25

This fall, Spartans worldwide will come together to make a difference in their communities during the first Spartans Serve Week, Sept. 17-25, 2022.

You can find ways to participate virtually or in your community. Check out registered projects organized by alumni, students and friends at

Support Veterans, Nov. 11

The Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) provides support for MSU’s 400 student veterans and nearly 2,000 military-connected students, dependent spouses and children. This Veteran’s Day, join fellow Spartans by making a gift to the SVRC or another program serving our veteran community at Support Spartan Veterans.

A group of MSU faculty, staff and retiree veterans
Faculty, staff and retiree veterans posed for a photo at last year’s Thanks for Giving Luncheon which featured remarks from President Stanley, Provost Woodruff, SVRC Director Patrick Forystek and student veteran Aaron Etelamaki.

Support Spartans this Giving Tuesday

GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving—this year Nov. 29.

Visit Spartan Giving Day to learn more about the many projects that address the needs of students and campus partners, where even a small contribution can make a big difference.

THANK YOU to faculty, staff and retirees for their exemplary support

The university will commemorate the role of faculty, staff and retiree donors at the annual Thanks for Giving Luncheon on October 31, 2022.

The annual event is underwritten by the MSU Federal Credit Union to thank those who qualified for Leadership Circle by making donations totaling $1,000 or more during the previous or current fiscal year or are members of a lifetime giving society. Nearly 3,000 MSU faculty, staff and retiree donors will be invited to attend.

Collectively, faculty, staff and retiree donors through outright gifts, pledges and estate planning gave more than $14 million to support MSU students and programs across the campus in fiscal year 2022, which was nearly 5 percent of the record-breaking $284.4 million raised from all donors.
