Fostering forests as natural climate solutions

Help MSU play a critical role to accelerate the forest climate solution.

The Forest Carbon and Climate Program (FCCP) is a nationally recognized program that aims to increase understanding and implementation of climate-smart forest management, which inextricably links climate change mitigation and adaptation. The FCCP was established to connect professionals, natural resource managers, decision-makers, students and the broader public with the value of forested lands and forest products in addressing climate change. The program focuses on activities that advance best practice implementation, promote robust and interdisciplinary understanding of forest benefits and co-benefits, and develop and nurture balanced perspectives that include working forests and forest products as a part of the climate change solution. These objectives are achieved through working with strategic partners to better communicate and bring attention to key topics, create educational content and programming, engage in collaborative research, and bridge dialogue gaps on carbon and climate topics related to forests and forested lands.   Together, we enable the resources and knowledge needed to implement forestry practices that help solve climate change.

Your Support Will Make a Big Difference

By supporting FCCP, you enable us to advocate for solutions that not only address climate change but also protect forest ecosystems benefiting people and nature. Through strategic partnerships and collaborations, FCCP disseminates vital information but also cultivates a collective consciousness around the vital role of forests in our global climate strategy. By investing in FCCP, together we can catalyze change, empower stakeholders, and pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.

Project Budget

Donations to FCCP will support enhanced program activities allowing us to scale our contributions for forests as natural climate solutions. These activities include:

  • Development of innovative hybrid educational and knowledge transfer resources to prepare the future forestry workforce and landowners to engage with the carbon economy.
  • Conducting applied research and research synthesis of emerging topics to inform forest policy and planning in support of net zero greenhouse gas emission goals
  • Providing scholarships to remove barriers to education.
  • Nurturing strategic partnerships to foster a holistic dialogue in support of the health and resilience of forests.
