Michigan State University has a legacy of being a dynamic, collaborative academic environment that prospective students and faculty are eager to join. We know that this distinctive environment is poised to generate a significant number of scientific breakthroughs as well as help students find their life’s work. It’s an environment where students, scholars, faculty, and researchers, through immeasurable creativity, discovery, and learning, will make seemingly impossible ideas possible and turn dreams into realities. With private support Michigan State University seeks to establish 100 new endowed chairs and fund important academic and intercollegiate programs in order to retain and attract great thinkers, coaches, and mentors.
In terms of academics, MSU ranks in the Top 30 nationally and 100 internationally. But in terms of the number of endowed faculty chairs and professors, MSU is at the bottom of the Big Ten.
Private funding would allow us to fund more research teams at MSU who are doing this work so that they can get the results they need, to obtain extramural funding, and do research that is crucial to improving livelihoods worldwide.
