Programming Support: Gifts designated to Program Support for WKAR-TV and Radio not only allow us to continue to purchase well-known national programs for broadcast (like Morning Edition and All Things Considered or Nova/Frontline/Masterpiece Theatre/Sesame Street), these gifts also help us support production of local programming.

One of the issues that is important in today's world of broadcasting is the issue of local ownership/control. Today there are only a few corporate entities that own the many radio and television stations that we access. Public broadcasting is different. The owners are our members...YOU! We provide you with more local information and content and help you be better informed on local issues; something that is difficult for commercial stations to do.

Technology Support: Broadcast technology is constantly changing. In order for WKAR to continue to broadcast programming, our equipment needs updating. Gifts to technology help support our move to the 21st century - editing equipment, cameras, studio equipment as well as digital television upgrades are all part of the technology needed to provide the high quality public broadcasting service that we depend on.
