All U Campaign
College of Social Science
Marietta Baba, Professor and Dean

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

The College of Social Science continues to grow not only as a campus leader, but nationally and internationally as a principal research entity that impact and enriches society. As we continue our efforts to expand our reach by forming cross-unit collaborations with campus partners, we are mindful of the generosity that our friends and colleagues have committed to our advancement.

As the largest and most diverse college on campus, we serve as a benchmark for excellence in the academic arena and within the MSU community. During the 2007 All University Campaign, our faculty and staff contributed more than $604,000, demonstrating once again how committed our faculty and staff are to the College's success. With the focus on enhancing the student experience, we will be able to utilize these dollars to serve our nearly 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in our 12 major degree-granting disciplines and professions as well as Centers, Institutes, and special programs providing opportunities for enhanced student learning. We credit our success with students to the nearly 400 tenure and tenure-stream faculty who constantly strive to provide enriching opportunities for learning.

I respectfully request your consideration to support the MSU College of Social Science during the 2009 All University Campaign.

With your contribution, the College of Social Science will continue conducting research and teaching, maintaining our leadership role not only on campus, but throughout our respective fields. I ask that you consider supporting the College as we work to accomplish our goals by making a personal contribution to the campaign.

You may wish to consider the following areas of support within our College:

  • Faculty Initiatives Fund (faculty research, public service, and publications)
  • Your own department, school, or program

Although your strongest ties may be with the department, school, or program with which you are affiliated, you can also direct your gift to any part of the university.

Please note that one hundred percent of your gift will benefit the program you choose. Nothing will be deducted for overhead or administrative expenses. In addition, payroll deduction options are available as a convenient way to fulfill your commitment.

Thank you for your kind and careful consideration of this appeal. An investment in the future of Michigan S tate University through a gift to the 2009 All University Campaign is appreciated!

Sincerely,

Marietta L. Baba
Professor and Dean
