Youth robotics expands with Motorola

An MSU College of Engineering program that currently engages 250 Mid-Michigan middle and high school students with robotics technology will reach other regions, thanks to support from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc.

The $50,000 Innovation Generation grant supports MSU’s Spartan Middle and High School VEX Robotics Program and will allow the college to expand engineering outreach efforts into Detroit and West Michigan schools.

“With this Innovation Generation grant, we are able to double the current number of teams—from five to 10—targeting new areas and schools that are economically challenged and diverse,” says Drew Kim, assistant to the dean for recruitment, scholarship and K-12 outreach in MSU’s College of Engineering.
