MSU scientist honored with five years of support

Dr. Sheng Yang He

Dr. Sheng Yang He, a plant biologist at MSU, has been named one of the nation’s most creative plant scientists, an honor from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation that will cover He’s salary, benefits and research expenses for the next five years and possibly longer.

He, from MSU’s Plant Research Laboratory in the College of Natural Science, was selected as an HHMI-GBMF investigator for his innovative research into plants’ susceptibility to disease. He was one of 14 researchers selected from nearly 240 applicants—including four finalists from MSU.
