Young writers have big imaginations and big dreams. The Young Authors’ Conference (YAC) at MSU inspires kids to use their imaginations to make their dreams come true. Fifth- to twelfth-graders from all over Michigan come to the conference to workshop their writing, learn from MSU students and professors, and get advice from published authors.
Participants say the conference is awesome because of “the publishing, the kindness, the love.” In fact, 100% of past participants give the YAC a grade of A or A+.
The YAC team says the conference is tremendous because of the amazing people it brings together. From the youngest writer to student and alumni volunteers to our Writers-in-Residence, everyone shares their love of telling stories and inspiring others.
Be a part of our story: inspire a writer!
We hope to raise $1500 for this summer’s conference. We want every interested young writer to participate, and we can make that goal a reality with your help.
In 2014, 34% of our YAC participants received a full or partial scholarship. Your donation will fund scholarships and cover conference costs so that all our young writers can imagine big and dream bigger.
Your donation will help encourage creativity in Michigan’s next great writer! And it will help connect kids to other kids and mentors who dream as big as they do.
What’s the coolest thing about the YAC? Participants say it’s:
“Getting to meet all of these incredible, successful authors! And the girls in my group were amazing writers and even more amazing people.”
“Young authors coming together and getting positive support.”
“Hearing other kids my age’s stories. Learning new things was also really cool.”
“Getting to know other writers and people who actually READ! Also the publishing session was really cool!”
You can be a part of a writer’s “positive support.” Every little bit can help! So please give what you can. And don’t forget to share this great cause with your friends and family, as well as any young writers you know.
