The MSU Sidewalk Poetry Project gives the MSU community the opportunity to submit their poems to a competition judged by poets of note. The theme for this year’s competition is ‘water.’ One undergraduate student, one graduate student, one faculty/staff member and one alumnus will have their winning entries etched into sidewalks around campus.
An anonymous donor has generously agreed to match up to $1,000 of gifts made to this project.
The project makes the creative spirit of our Spartan community visible by including community members’ work in sustainable displays of public art on campus. These art installations will become one-of-a-kind pieces here on the campus of Michigan State University.
Funds raised will go directly toward the cost of installing the four winning poems, and to the reception celebrating the winning poems and their authors.
The Sidewalk Poetry Project committee’s purpose is to enhance inclusion of MSU community members’ poetry in public art movements on campus in ways that highlight the creative spirit of the Spartan community.
