The Michigan State University Pompon team would like your help to raise funds to take us to the 2015 Mid-American High Kick Collegiate Championships in November 2015. There are many costs associated with this competition and with our largest team in 11 years it is very difficult to find the funds to pay for all of the expenses.
MSU Pompon functions solely on fundraising efforts, sponsorships and donations. Because we are affiliated as a club sport at Michigan State University, we do not receive funding from the university. We fund all expenses ourselves that occur throughout the season. The money we raise through CrowdPower will go towards sending the team to the 2015 Mid-American High Kick Collegiate Championship in November.
The Mid-American High Kick Collegiate Championships is a competition in which collegiate teams compete against one another in a themed “high kick” performance. The premise of the high kick competition is to create a performance based on kicks with a theme that surrounds it. To get a better understanding of what our past performances look like you can visit our YouTube page.
We have done very well in the past at the Mid-American High Kick Collegiate Championships, earning first place in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013, and third place in 2014. We have so much pride in each performance and do it for the legacy, which includes past and present team members.
We fund 100% of our operating expenses (with no university support). The money donated would specifically go towards competition fees, costumes, props, music cutting, occasional facility rentals and other miscellaneous items for hair, make up, etc.
This year we have the largest team we have ever had in the 11 years of MSU Pompon. This means our competition fees are very expensive because we pay by number of team members performing at the event.
Our overall fundraising goal is to raise or surpass $5,000.
Michigan State University Pompon was the first ever traditional Mid-American style pompon team formally established at the collegiate level. Since the team’s creation in 2005, numerous other collegiate programs have been formed. We are thrilled at the growth of the sport at the collegiate level and hope that other programs will continue to emerge. We are very proud to be the first!
MSU Pompon strives to promote value through team unity, enthusiasm, school spirit and loyalty, community involvement and philanthropic endeavors. Our program provides a supportive academic and athletic environment for the students involved by teaching life skills including, time management, the importance of collaboration, responsibility and outreach. Overall, the goal of MSU Pompon is to serve as positive role models and ambassadors of Michigan State University and the sport of pompon.
