The MSU Formula Racing Team represents Michigan State University's entry into the Formula SAE collegiate design series, a competition sanctioned by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Our team is an entirely extra-curricular and student-run organization that is open to all majors and class levels. Each year, our team is tasked with the challenge of funding, designing, manufacturing and racing a small, open-wheel racecar.
Formula SAE provides an incredible learning experience by challenging us to develop a competitive and innovative racecar from initial concept through final system validation. The knowledge and hands-on experiences gained through Formula SAE provides an invaluable benefit for every member's future career and life.
Why are we fundraising?
Specifically, we are looking for donations to cover expenses for competition. This year we will be traveling to two competitions: FSAE-Michigan and FSAE-Nebraska. We invite you to support us on our journey to FSAE-Michigan held at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) and FSAE-Nebraska at the Lincoln Airpark.
We will commute between our shop in Okemos, MI and MIS each day of competition. This will total in at 1824 miles of travel. When we head to Nebraska later in June, we will travel a total of 7270 miles. Lodging expenses also will be incorporated for the trip to Nebraska.
Additional funds that are raised will go towards the cost of tires for competition and testing. This will provide the team with more testing time in order to better prepare our car for competition. If we exceed our target, that is even better! Those funds will go towards the next MSU Formula SAE racecar.
Your support is what truly makes this invaluable learning experience possible. Please support us with any amount you can. Every dollar will help us hit our target of $5000! As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, all donations are tax exempt under U.S. tax laws. Please make sure to share this opportunity with your friends and family to help us get the word out.
