For the first time, Global Educators Cohort Program (GECP) E-Board will be able to provide financial assistance to future educators to study abroad. Studying abroad provides future educators with a transformational learning experience that they can bring to their classrooms to support the global education of their students. The global learning that this scholarship seeks to support will not only change the lives of the future teachers who receive them, but will have lasting impact on the many young people with whom teachers engage for years to come.
Funds raised will go directly to six $500 study abroad scholarships for MSU preservice teachers in the Global Educators Cohort Program.
Any amount raised above our campaign goal will go directly to additional scholarships for students.
The GECP Executive Board is a group of GECP student leaders who work together to support global education. GECP is an academic program in MSU’s Department of Teacher Education that prepares students to become teachers of the world. Dedicated to education, the E-Board’s goal is to support nonprofits, graduates and their peers in GECP who are committed to educating young people for the global context of today’s world.
GECP Program Coordinator Margo Glew is committed to preparing the next generation of global educators. A 2016 recipient of the MSU Alumni Association Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education, Dr. Glew is pledging $1,000 of her award to match every dollar donation to the Global Educators Study Abroad Scholarship Fund.
For every dollar donated to the fund Dr. Glew will match donations up to $1,000. So your donation will be doubled!
Dr. Glew passionately supports this initiative. In her words:
“Today’s teachers are world changers who can help young people understand our wide world, appreciate and work with others who come from different language and cultural backgrounds, and can seek answers to modern problems and challenges whose causes and ultimate solutions not only require deep disciplinary expertise, but also cross-cultural understanding, multidisciplinary collaboration, and sophisticated communication skills. MSU Global Educators embody the MSU commitment to stepping up and making a difference in their communities and the wider world. Spartans Will and MSU Global Educators will, too!”
