Description:

The Director of External Relations and Senior Director of Development for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources directs, plans, coordinates, and implements administrative and operational activities for the College, MSU Extension, and the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station fund raising program using volunteers and the staff in order to increase the level of monies received from the private sector; this includes recruiting and training volunteers, conducting a needs assessment of programs, identifying and cultivating prospects, developing and reviewing proposals, and actively soliciting contributions; responsible for Alumni Relations and Special Events, especially as a basis for fund raising activity; travel involving automobile required.  

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree; eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional fund raising, public relations, marketing, or related field OR five years of related and progressively more responsible professional experience in higher education development, public relations, or a related field; experience in facilitating major gifts through planned giving instruments; working knowledge of tax laws affecting charitable giving; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
